Fred was born on 10 –28 1879 in Russia. He came to the USA when he was 3 days short of his 7th birthday. He died in 1945, married Solome Baumann 7-3-1903. She was born in 1878 & died in1941.

REBECCA WEISPFENNING GUMKE


Rebecca was born on 12-28-1885 in Russia. She came to USA when she was 1 year & 10 months old. She married Christ Gumke, Gackle N. D. on 10-23-1904 at Fredonia. They lived in Gackle in the 50’s and up until she moved to the nursing home in Napoleon N. D. where she died on 8-18-1977.

MARIA WEISPFENNING MUELLER



Maria was born on the farm 2 miles north of Fredonia on 6-26-1888. She married Salomon Mueller on 6-6-1908 at Fredonia N. D. They farmed north of Fredonia until 2- 08 –1915 when they moved to Gackle. Salomon had taken a job working on the dray line, for Henry Jenner. In 1916 Salomon bought the dray line. A few years later he was appointed Gackle City Marshall. In 1942 he was elected Logan County sheriff and in 1943 they moved to Napoleon N. D. to take office. They lived there until their deaths. Salomon died on 10-22-1953 & Maria died on 6-15-1962

CHRIST WEISPFENNING


Christ was born on 7-23-1890 on the farm 2 miles north of Fredonia, N. D. He married Louisa Rath on 1- 1912. Louisa was born on 11-5-1894 in Russia and came to USA when she was 12. They farmed part of the original farm site that his parents homesteaded in 1887. He died while still living on the farm on 2-2 1962, she died at the age of 101 on 7-9-1996.

JUSTINA WEISPFENNING RATH


Justina was born on 6-11-1892 on the farm 2 miles north of Fredonia. She married Jacob [Jake] Rath. At one point he lived in Selby S. D.



Children from this marriage:


  1. Wanda: She married Eugene Ketterling from Hebron, N.D. They also lived in Montana and Loveland, Co. As of this writing [1-23-2003] she lives with her husband in a retirement community in Arvada, Co.


  1. Justina & Jake also adopted a Bernice. She was Jake’s sister’s daughter, possibly a Mitzel. Her mother died in childbirth when Bernice was an infant. Bernice married a Robert Trautman. They lived in or around Detroit. At the time of this writing [1-23-2003] Bernice has passed but Robert is still living.


Wanda’s children;


1. Eugene Errol - called Errol, lives in Brighton, Co. with his wife Sheila.

Errol has 3 children

MAGDALENA WEISPFENNING HORST HEIN


Magdalena was born on 1-28-1894 on the farm 2 miles north of Fredonia. She married Rudolf Horst. After Rudolf died she married Jake Hein, & they lived in Lodi, Cal. Her son Ray also lived there.

OTTO WEISPFENNING


Otto was born on 4-25-1897. He married Mathilda Rath on 11-28-1920. She was born on 8-30-1902 in Russia and came to USA when she was a child. They farmed with his Father until 1940. They continued to farm on other farms until 1945, when they moved to Jamestown, N. D. He died on 3-18-1976, & she died on 12-5-1999.

Five of the above children that were born to Johannes & Susanna died as young children.


  1. John I know that there were 3 John’s. I know one died in Russia. None of my older first cousins once removed can remember. The Fredonia Jubilee book states 12 children.

  2. Justina Born 4-22-1881 in Russia Died in Russia as a child

  3. Johan (John). Born in Russia 9-24-1886 Died 3-15-1887 in Tripp Dakota Territory (South Dakota). Buried at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery

  4. Art Born on the farm north of Fredonia on 11-7-1899, died at age 2 on 7-13-1902 of diphtheria, buried in the Lutheran Cemetery ¼ mile to the east of the farm on Hwy 53, 3 miles north of Fredonia. Art & John, # 5 share a headstone, they are buried head to head.

  5. John, Born on the farm north of Fredonia on 7-9-1895, died at age of 7 on 7-16-1902 of diphtheria, buried in the Lutheran Cemetery with # 4 Art above

Grandma Susanna told Granddaughter Alma Weispfenning that they wanted to have a John real bad, but they kept on dying.
